Marcus Starke
Marcus Starke is a Counsel in Obeid & Partners, working within the firm’s international arbitration team. A dual-qualified and specialist disputes lawyer, Marcus has practiced across the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
He has acted as counsel for large multinationals, sovereign states and state-owned entities in numerous commercial and investor-state international arbitration cases as well as litigation and expert determination matters across various industries including oil & gas, mining, energy storage, real-estate project development and metal smelting.
In addition to his extensive experience in private legal practice, including many years at a ‘Magic Circle’ law firm in Dubai, Marcus spent two and half years on secondment to the in-house legal department of Marubeni Corporation in Tokyo, Japan. He also worked as a Director of a third party litigation funder.
Marcus holds LLM degrees from New York University School of Law (Law and the Global Economy) and the National University of Singapore (International and Comparative Law). He also holds a LLB degree in Law with European Legal Studies from King’s College London with First Class Honours.
Marcus is qualified to practice law in England and Wales (as a solicitor) and New York and licensed in Dubai by the Legal Affairs Department. He is a native English speaker and has a working knowledge of French.
